West Indies all-rounder Justin Greaves has been nominated for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for December 2025 after his standout performances in the recent Test series against New Zealand.
Greaves indeed had a memorable month in New Zealand, scoring a brilliant 283 runs at an average of 56.60 across three Tests.
His standout performance came in the first Test, where he scored an unbeaten 202 in the fourth innings, saving the match and helping the West Indies secure a historic draw.
Greaves was not just a star with the bat. The 31-year-old medium pacer also made crucial breakthroughs with the ball, picking up five wickets and proving his all-round class.
The competition for the award is strong, as Greaves will face fierce challenges from New Zealand fast bowler Jacob Duffy and Australia’s left-arm seamer Mitchell Starc.
Duffy was the leading wicket-taker in the home Test series against the West Indies. He claimed 23 wickets at an average of 15.43 across three matches, helping New Zealand win the series 2-0. His dominant form helped him become
New Zealand’s highest wicket-taker in a calendar year across all formats, with 81 wickets, overtaking Richard Hadlee’s record of 79, set back in 1985.
As for Starc, he was instrumental during the Ashes series in December, taking 16 wickets and scoring 139 runs in three Tests.
He seized Player-of-the-Match honors in the second Test, blending a powerful 77 runs with eight match-winning wickets to drive Australia to victory.
Starc wasn’t done yet—his gritty 54 runs and four wickets in the third Test at Adelaide were instrumental in helping Australia seal the series win.
