Masicka announces his new EP, “Her Name Is Love,” set for release on Dec. 19 via Def Jam Recordings, marking a new artistic direction.
“This project signals a refined, emotionally resonant evolution, one that embraces loyalty, sensuality, and connection, all while maintaining the lyrical precision and edge that define Masicka’s impact on modern dancehall,” Ronnie Tomlinson, the Jamaican-born, Brooklyn-based entertainment publicist, told Caribbean Life on Tuesday, Dec. 2.
Tomlinson, CEO of Destine Media, said the visual world surrounding the EP offers audiences a first look into its tone.
“Through warm lighting, softly blurred edges, romantic silhouettes, and imagery that captures the subtle tension and chemistry between a man and woman, the aesthetic feels cinematic and intimate,” she said.
“The photos, captured by Yanick ‘The Therapist’ Reid, evoke a Caribbean romance that is confident, sensual, layered, and rooted in quiet emotion, reflecting a space where vulnerability and masculinity coexist without contradiction,” Tomlinson added. “These visuals reveal the EP’s core: a celebration of women, desire, closeness, and the emotional richness found in relationships.”
Tomlinson said this creative direction mirrors the “sonic palette of ‘Her Name Is Love.’”
Masicka delves into new emotional territory on the EP, drawing inspiration from admiration and the influence of women.
Tomlinson said the project pays homage “not just to romantic energy but to the presence, power, and influence of women in his life and throughout his musical journey.”
The EP features Masicka’s melodic track “Keys,” a fan-favorite that marks the start of a new artistic phase, according to Tomlinson.
“‘Keys’ uses warm production and heartfelt tone to express closeness, trust, and romance, which Tomlinson says defines the project. ‘Her Name Is Love’ marks an important stage in Masicka’s growth both musically and emotionally, as well as visually.”
The EP features thoughtful songwriting and layered production, expanding dancehall storytelling for both women and broader audiences who value connection.
