Alzarri Joseph and Melissa Seaforth were named Senior Sportsman and Senior Sportswoman of the Year, respectively, at the Antigua and Barbuda National Sports Awards, which recognized the country’s top athletic achievements over the past year.

Joseph, a prominent fast bowler for the West Indies cricket team, won the Senior Sportsman award for the second consecutive year, following his previous victory in 2024.

The 29-year-old had an impressive year on the international cricket stage. During the season, he captured 31 wickets, highlighting his effectiveness as one of the Caribbean’s leading pace bowlers. One of his standout performances included a five-wicket haul against Australia national cricket team, which showcased his ability to dominate top-level opposition.

In addition to his international success, Joseph also reached a significant career milestone by surpassing 200 wickets in T20 cricket, further cementing his reputation as a consistent and dangerous bowler in the shortest format of the game. He also contributed in domestic cricket with both bat and ball, demonstrating his all-round value to his teams.

On the women’s side, Seaforth enjoyed a highly successful year in international bodybuilding and fitness competitions, earning her the Senior Sportswoman award. She replaced the 2024 winner, fellow Antiguan bodybuilder Kimberley Percival.

Seaforth’s season was highlighted by several podium finishes at prestigious international events. Among her biggest achievements was winning gold in the Bikini Fitness category at the IFBB Pro Pepa held in the Czech Republic. She also performed strongly at the IFBB Pro Grand Gala in Italy, where she captured gold in the Bikini Pro Masters Division and earned second place in the Bikini Pro Open Division.

Both athletes were recognized for their outstanding performances and contributions to sport over the past year, highlighting the continued strength of Antiguan athletes competing on the international stage.
