Mr. Vegas once again proved why he’s considered one of the greatest dancehall performers of all time.
The “I Am Blessed” Jamaican-born singer, whose real name is Clifford Smith, was in “top form” at the star-studded Reggae Fest 2025 Saturday night, Aug. 30, at the Barclays Center, downtown Brooklyn, according to Haitian-American entertainment publicist Marie Driven.
“For the second year in a row, Mr. Vegas walked away with the unofficial title of ‘Best Performer,’ leaving the jam-packed arena buzzing long after his set ended,” Driven, managing partner of the Brooklyn-based PlaybookMG, told Caribbean Life on Aug. 31. “Opening his performance with his iconic hit, ’I Am Blessed,’ the ‘King of the Stage’ had fans singing, waving flags, and dancing as he took them on a non-stop musical journey through his catalog of hits.”
Drive added: “Beyond his undeniable talent, Mr. Vegas brought his signature style to the stage, solidifying his reputation as not just a music legend but also a true fashion killer.”
Adding to the excitement, the dancehall icon recently released his highly anticipated album “Ghetto Reggae,” which is already making waves among fans worldwide.
During his performance on Saturday, Driven said Mr. Vegas, who is also a DJ and dancehall musician, took “a heartfelt moment to honor Caribbean culture, showing once again why his connection with his audience runs deeper than the music.”
Mr. Vegas attained the number five spot on the US Reggae Chart, with his 1998 debut album, “Head High,” selling over 150,000 copies globally.
His 2004 single, “Pull Up,” reached number 10 on the United Kingdom’s Singles Chart.
Mr. Vegas’ other masterpieces include “Nike Air,” “Hot Wuk,” and “Taxi Fare.”
