Trinidadian Anisa Mohamed and Barbadian Hayley Matthews are the only two West Indies players — male or female — to earn selections on the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) white-ball all-stars teams for 2021.
Both players were last week named to the ICC’s Women’s One-Day International (ODI) Team of the Year.
Mohammed is vice captain of the West Indies Women team. The veteran off-spinner finished 2021 as the highest wicket-taker with 20 wickets at an average of 18.00. She was one of the most economical bowlers, conceding just 3.61 runs per over. Her best figures in 2021came in the second CG Insurance ODI against Pakistan at the  Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua, where she took four wickets for 27 runs in her 9.4 overs she bowled.
Hayley Matthews of West Indies plays a shot during the first one-day international cricket match against Pakistan at the National Stadium in Karachi, Pakistan, Monday, Nov. 8, 2021.

All-rounder Matthews had success with both bat and ball. She scored 380 runs including one century and one-half century, and picked up 18 wickets at an average of 22.44.

While the two West Indies women were recognized among the world’s best for last year, no male player was able to get into either the Men’s T20I or ODI series.
