Ras Emmanuel says he is concerned about the well-being of his friend and music collaborator, veteran dancehall artiste Future Fambo, who suffered a mild heart attack Sunday morning at his New York home.
“I am concerned about his well-being,” Ras Emmanuel told Caribbean Life on Monday. “When I spoke to Fambo, he was in a great spirit.
“He was grateful for his life,” added Ras Emmanuel, who spoke with Fambo moments after the heart attack. “The message I have for my brother is to take it easy and follow up with his doctor’s visits.”
Fans of the “Rum and Red Bull” hitmaker first became aware of Future Fambo’s illness on Sunday after he shared a short video on Instagram showing New York paramedics attending to him while he lay on a sofa.
Future Fambo, who is diabetic, said the heart attack occurred after he ate a bowl of cornmeal porridge following two days of travel. His blood sugar levels reportedly spiked after he consumed the porridge.
“I am grateful to God for being alive,” Future Fambo told Caribbean Life. “You have to have faith like Job. We have to be grateful to God. No one is like Him.”
Fambo, whose real name is Warren Gladstone Williams, revealed in 2023 that he has diabetes.
He said he is counting his lucky stars to be alive today after suffering a heart attack.
“I’m feeling much better now,” Fambo said. “I am recovering at home and thankful to be alive. I ate and am drinking a lot of orange juice and water. These are things we don’t usually drink every day.
“I plan to drink less alcohol now,” he added. “You can’t get up and drink and not eat food. It will mash you up.”
