The Vincent and Patricia Foundation, in partnership with the Institute of Caribbean Studies, Faculty of Humanities and Education at the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus officially launched the Vincent and Patricia (VP) Entertainment Cultural Enterprise Management (ECEM) scholarship at the Mona Campus on Sept. 9, 2025.
This award will provide tuition assistance and academic support to two university students entering the BA degree program in Entertainment Cultural Enterprise Management. These students demonstrate exceptional academic potential, leadership qualities, and a strong commitment to advancing the Caribbean’s entertainment and cultural sectors.
Each recipient will also complete a final-year internship at VP-Records’ Jamaica branch, which will offer direct exposure to the global music industry.
The ECEM program has become the region’s leading training ground for future culture and creative industry professionals.
Patricia (Ms. Pat) Chin, chairwoman of the Vincent & Patricia VP Foundation and Co-founder of VP Records, expressed her enthusiasm for the initiative, calling it a visionary step forward that emphasizes the importance of nurturing emerging talents in the next generation of cultural leaders—those who will shape the artistic and social landscape for years to come.
Michelle Williams, VP Records Regional Director of Caribbean and Latin America, and Foundation board member, represented the Vincent and Patricia VP Foundation in Kingston, Jamaica.
The launch held at the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus was attended by several senior staff including, Professor, Densil Williams, principal and Pro-Vice Chancellor, of the University of the West Indies, Dr. Deon Edwards-Kerr, Faculty of Humanities and Education; Dr. Dave Gosse, Chairman of the Institute of Caribbean Studies, Dr, Dennis Howard, Coordinator of the Entertainment and Cultural Enterprise Management (ECEM) program and Dr. Donovan Stanberry, Campus Registrar.
Dr. Dennis Howard stated that the scholarship is a welcome addition to the ECEM program, as it will encourage students who are qualified to enter the program but are not financially equipped to attend the university.
He continued, echoing the sentiment, “The Vincent and Patricia Foundation is continuing its efforts to give back to the Jamaican entertainment business and to help two needy potential students realize their dreams of pursuing a degree in entertainment management.”
Applications for the scholarship are now open through the Institute of Caribbean Studies for any two students pursuing a BA degree in Entertainment and Cultural Enterprise Management. More information can be found on the UWI scholarship page.
The requirement for the scholarship is based on financial needs, participation in co-curricular activities, and most importantly, the recipients of the scholarship will be given to students from inner-cities communities.
