St. Paul’s Church holds 4th Annual Health Fair

The Ministry and Community Outreach Committee of St. Paul’s Church in the Village of Flatbush, in collaboration with The Haitian Community Coalition(HCC), last Saturday hosted the 4th Annual Community Health Fair in the church’s auditorium.

The event was “an opportunity for community members to interact with local health professionals and become more aware of healthy lifestyles,” according to a statement from Committee members, adding that the event aimed at educating, empowering and raising awareness for heath.

Agencies and vendors from all across the city were present to bring a “wealth of resources to members of the community,” the statement said.

“Participants attended and were very appreciative and supportive of the contributions offered by the vendors,” it said. “Many were able to receive health screenings, flu shots, information on housing, fire and safety, adult literacy, health insurance, among others.”

The church’s Barbadian-born pastor, Rev. Hamblin, the community health fair coincided with the Feast of St. Luke the Evangelist, patron of St. Luke’s Society Outreach Ministry.

“Luke was a physician, and was one of Paul’s missionaries in the spreading of the gospel,” he said. “St Luke is considered to be the author of the Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles. Participants were eager to have the services provided and commented on the services that were available for free.”
