Rutland Nursing Home, Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center’s long term care facility, has received a HEAL 20 grant from the New York State Department of Health in the amount of $4.6 million.
Hospital officials say the grant will allow for the expansion of Rutland’s Adult Day Health Care Program via the decertification of 60 skilled nursing home beds, relocation of Rutland’s administrative offices and long term care pediatrics.
Rutland’s Adult Day Health Care Program promotes niche services for Russian, Chinese and Caribbean residents, according to Kingsbrook officials. Additionally, Rutland offers an array of services including skilled nursing, sub-acute rehabilitation, comprehensive wound care, certified ventilator dependent care, long–term skilled nursing pediatric care and a variety of other sub-acute services.
The Adult Day Health Program operates 60 day slots and 50 evening slots for community residents.
Rutland Nursing Home is a 538-bed adult and pediatric skilled nursing facility on the campus of Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center. The HEAL 20 Grant will not only enhance access to space for the Adult Day Health Care Program but will modernize the Pediatric Long Term Care Program; of which Rutland is the only provider in Brooklyn, hospital officials say.

Other specialty areas include: Emergency Services, Ambulatory Surgery and a Certified Non-Invasive Vascular Laboratory, as well as an Adult and Pediatric long term care facility. Kingsbrook and Rutland Nursing Home are JCAHO certified and not-for-profit members of the Greater New York Hospital Association and the Healthcare Association of New York State
Hospital officials say the project will contribute to long term financial viability of Rutland by increasing utilization and reducing costs.
