West Indies begins series in India

Delhi’s Feroz Shah Kotla hosted the first of three Tests matches between India and the West Indies this month.

The match began on Nov. 6 with the other two Tests taking place in Kolkata from Nov. 14-18 and in Mumbai from Nov. 22-26.

India will also play five One-Day Internationals against the West Indies but the Indian Cricket Board said it would announce the itinerary later.

The series against the West Indies began a week after England’s tour of India, which ended recently.

The West Indies team was in Bangladesh for one Twenty20, three ODIs and two Tests. The regional team lost the Twenty20 but won the ODI 2-1.

Earlier this year, India beat the West Indies 3-2 in a five-match ODI series, and won the three Test series 1-0.

The highest ranked ICC all-rounder is Australian Shane Watson, who is presently on 385 points.

Pakistan’s Shahid Afridi was second on 339 points with Australian David Hussey (316 points) third.

Jamaican Gayle is also ranked 14th on the ICC Twenty20 Batting Rankings. Topping the standings is England’s Eoin Morgan, who has 832 points. He is followed by New Zealand’s Bendon McCullum and Englishman Kevin Pietersen.

West Indies Captain Darren Sammy is in eighth position on the ICC Bowlers Rankings.
