West Indies batsmen failed to enter the top 50 of the ICC’s Test batting rankings after they delivered devastating performances in the recently concluded Test series against New Zealand.
Shai Hope, who was the only West Indian previously ranked in the top 50, has fallen 11 places to the 60th position and is the highest-ranked batsman from the regional team according to the most recent ICC rankings.
Hope battled an eye infection in the drawn second Test. He also dealt with food poisoning in the third and final Test. Despite a decent series, scoring 255 runs at an average of 42.50, he slipped out of the top 50.
Justin Greaves was the regional team’s top scorer in the series with 283 runs at an average of 56.60. However, despite his unbeaten double century in the second Test, he moved down one place to 62nd in the rankings.

Kraigg Brathwaite, the former West Indies opener, last played in July against Australia. He is the next highest batter at 65th.
The biggest advancement on the list for the West Indies was Kavem Hodge and Brandon King.
Hodge, who scored an unbeaten 123 in the first innings of the third Test, moved up 11 spots to 66th, while King, who replaced injured opener Tagenarine Chanderpaul, scored half-centuries in both innings of the third Test, jumped 27 places, now sitting in 73rd position.
John Campbell at 75th, Alick Athanaze at 76th, Joshua Da Silva at 83rd, Chanderpaul at 99th, and captain Roston Chase at 100th round out the other West Indies players on the list.
In the bowling rankings, veteran pacer Kemar Roach, who had climbed to 18th after his impressive showing in the opening Test, has now dropped two spots to 20th. He is just ahead of the injured Shamar Joseph, who did not participate in the series and is now ranked 21st. Jayden Seales slipped one place to 25th, while Alzarri Joseph remains at 31st and Jomel Warrican stays at 32nd.
Gudakesh Motie held steady at 65th, while Chase dropped nine places to 67th. Greaves was the only West Indian bowler to move up, climbing 12 spots to 80th.
