Centerlight hosts Senior Pavilion at Jams Festival

JAMAICA, NEW YORK – CenterLight Healthcare is pleased to host the first-ever Senior Pavilion at the 2015 Jamaica Arts & Music Summer (JAMS) Festival, on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015. Presented by Cultural Collaborative Jamaica and the JAMS Planning Committee, The JAMS Festival is a two-day celebration that highlights the multicultural fabric of the borough of Queens. Held along 10 blocks of Jamaica Avenue, the event attracts more than 185,000 residents and visitors to downtown Jamaica.

CenterLight’s Pavilion, located at 165th Street, will offer a host of health educational resources and services for seniors, including a breast cancer awareness education, and an on-site cardiologist, who will provide community health screenings. The Pavilion will also feature musical entertainment, as well as a chef who will provide demos on healthy cooking and eating throughout the day.

“CenterLight is thrilled to sponsor this exciting health pavilion for seniors,” says Ada Rodriguez, spokeswoman for CenterLight. “Providing important information on health and wellness is just one of ways that CenterLight gives back to the communities we serve. Participation in events such as The JAMS Festival not only strengthens our ties with the Queens Community – it also enriches us as an organization.”

CenterLight has a long history of working to strengthen its neighborhoods, by hosting free educational and cultural events, as well as building valued partnerships with local faith-based and social organizations, senior centers, health care providers, community centers and more.

Throughout the summer, for example, CenterLight Healthcare has held a variety of free seminars throughout the New York metro area, to help demystify some common health and safety topics, such as pedestrian safety tips, the early signs of Alzheimer’s and domestic violence prevention. Upcoming seminars will focus on breast cancer awareness and fall prevention. Learn more at www.CenterLightHealthcare.org.
