Assembly Member Monique Chandler-Waterman was her usual energetic self on Saturday, April 4. She welcomed scores of children to an afternoon of music, games, laughter, and community spirit. The event, her Annual Egg Hunt extravaganza, was held under beautiful sunny skies in Paerdegat Park, Brooklyn.
The festivities kicked off at 11 a.m.
The elected official represents the 58th Assembly District, covering parts of Canarsie, Brownsville, East Flatbush, and Crown Heights. She partnered with East Flatbush Village Inc. to welcome families and stated her goal is to provide a safe space where children can be happy and enjoy themselves.

She urged parents to inspire their children to greatness, adding, “There is help, there is hope. Continue being your best self. Have fun — enjoy, play, dance.”
“I love you,” she told the crowd of colorfully dressed children and parents.
The politician thanked her staff for their commitment to the district and applauded partners for providing vital information on health, education, jobs, safety, financial literacy, and food security.
Other collaborators included the East Flatbush Community Partnership, the New York Office of Mental Health 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, the State Oversight Consortium, and the Civilian Complaint Review Board (CCRB) of New York, among others.

Beyond the egg hunt, boys and girls enjoyed sack races, a dance competition, and artistic face-painting by Ding-A-Ling the clown. The Easter Bunny posed for photos, delighting the kids.
