Chinelle Henry smacked an unbeaten century, as defending champions Jamaica Women crushed Barbados Women by 62 runs at the Arnos Vale Playing Field in St. Vincent.

Henry’s heroics helped Jamaica recover from an early collapse of 11-3 to post a competitive 149 for 5 from their allocated 20 overs.

Needing to score just over seven runs an over, Barbados Women couldn’t keep up and managed to only score 87 for 4 at the end of their 20 overs, their fourth straight defeat.

Jamaica opted to bat first with pacer Shamilia Connell dismissing Jodian Morgan, Chedean Nation and Abigail Bryce early in the innings.

But Henry came to the crease and revived the innings in a 70-run partnership with opener Rashada Williams, who scored 25 from 42 deliveries.

Williams and Keneshia Ferron was dismissed in the 17th over with the score 105 for 5. Henry then mastered an unbroken 44-run stand with Lena Scott, who contributed just three runs.

Henry struck off spinner Naijanni Cumberbatch for 29 runs in the penultimate over, hitting her for five consecutive boundaries taking her score in the 90s.

She then reached her century of the very last ball of the innings, by racing for two runs off Connell. Henry faced 49 balls belting eight sixes and six fours.

Connell was Barbados’ best bowler, taking 3-14.

In reply, Barbados’ batters struggled tremendously in an unimpressive run chase.

Despite losing just four wickets, they never performed with the bat, with only Naijanni Cumberbatch scoring a 35 off 56 balls, and Asabi Callender contributing an unbeaten 30 of 46 balls.

Neisha-Ann Waisome took 2-10 for Jamaica Women.
