Trinidad & Tobago Olympic medallist Keshorn Walcott threw a season’s best of 86.30 metres in the men’s javelin event at the Brussels Wanda Diamond League 2025 in Belgium to earn the silver medal.
Walcott opened with an impressive throw of 85.63m. In his second effort, he landed the spear even further at 86.30m, which was his best of the season. In his third attempt of the mandatory throws, he recorded 82.01m. He rounded off his participation with distances of 83.30m (fourth), 83.96m (fifth) and a foul in the sixth.
Germany’s Julian Weber was the winner of the event with a best distance of 89.65m, which came in his fourth attempt. Grenadian Anderson Peters saved his best attempt for last, throwing 85.17 to earn the bronze medal.
The 32-year-old Walcott is having a commendable 2025 season while preparing for the World Athletic Championships next month, a competition he is yet to medal after several attempts.
Walcott won Olympic gold at the 2012 London games and bronze four years later in Rio.
Walcott seems happy with his performance and posted on Instagram saying, “Throws are coming together, just a few more things to line up for the bigger ones”.
Walcott opened the season with a fourth-place finish throw of 84.65m at the Doha Diamond League on May 16. He then threw 79.98m to earn men’s javelin silver at the World Athletics Continental Tour Bronze meet in Finland on June 11.
He won the 2025 NGC/National Association of Athletics Administration (NAAATT) Open Championships in TT with an effort of 83.57m. Then, he grabbed silver with a distance of 82.54m at the 2025 Silesia Wanda Diamond League leg in Poland.
