The MoneyGram [Marquis] Corporate Image and Branding Platform ‘Red Shop,’ rolled into New York on Tuesday, Oct. 18, bringing its winning formula to the ‘Grand Opening/Open House’ of JCG Check Cashing, located at 146-15 Jamaica Ave., Jamaica, N.Y. 11435.
Many top Moneygram executives as well as Council Member Leroy Comrie, of New York’s 27th council district and head of the Queens delegation, were on hand to witness the ribbon cutting ceremony and grand opening event.
Representing Moneygram were Carlos Vizcarra, regional partnership manager-N.E.; Robert Taylor, director, partnership manager-N.E.; Juan Melendez, VP, retail partnership; Peter Ohsher, VP, independent retail channel & outbound corridors; Tatiana Rozo, partnership development manager-Queens/Brooklyn; Wilfredo Borrero, partnership development manager, Bronx/Long Island; as well as owner, Joe Guzman; there to welcome all and host the large crowd that gathered.
The MoneyGram ‘Red Shop’ is a corporate merchandising platform used to reward top agents in their market. The objective is to bring greater awareness to its retail partners and the range of services they offer to the community.

The buzz around the ‘Red Shop’ was boosted tremendously by 107.5 FM WBLS, broadcasting live from the event with the tri-states’ #1 Caribbean radio announcer, Dahved Levy.
The WBLS announcer and team kept the crowd engaged and entertained with MoneyGram’s premiums and games.
JCG Check Cashing has been a part of the Jamaica Business District and the Queens community for over 20 years providing vital financial services to community residents. These include money transfers services to several Caribbean countries including Jamaica, Guyana, Trinidad & Tobago and Haiti, as well as worldwide. JCG Check Cashing has consistently contributed to the Financial Service Centers of New York (FSCNY) Scholarship Fund program, which provides cash grants to college-bound students throughout the five boroughs.
Since the program’s inception, the FSCNY/MoneyGram International Scholarship Program has awarded $555,000 in scholarships to help more than 252 deserving students attend Ivy League and other selective universities and colleges.
