On Your Toes Dance Studio is proudly celebrating 15 years of serving the East Flatbush, Brooklyn community.
Director Althea Holmes, who was born in Brooklyn to a Jamaican mother, told Caribbean Life that On Your Toes Dance Studio has become “a beloved neighborhood institution, dedicated to enriching the lives of young dancers and their families.”
Since opening its doors in 2010, Holmes said On Your Toes has “remained true to its mission: to cultivate an environment that nurtures character, resilience, discipline, and accountability, all through the joyful pursuit of dance.
“The studio offers affordable, high-quality instruction in a wide range of dance styles, including ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, modern, majorette, and African dance, for students ages 3 to 17,” she said.

“More than just a place to learn choreography, On Your Toes is a community built on trust, encouragement, and meaningful connections among students, staff, and families,” added Holmes, stating that, at the core of the studio’s philosophy is the belief that “it’s about more than dance.
“Here, young people grow in confidence, build friendships, and learn life lessons that extend far beyond the stage,” she continued. “Parents often say that their children are not only improving as dancers, but also maturing into respectful, dedicated individuals thanks to the studio’s positive and structured environment.”
Holmes said a highlight of this year’s 15th anniversary celebration is the annual recital, which will once again feature the heartwarming Daddy-Daughter Dance.
“This cherished tradition invites dads and father figures to join their young dancers on stage for a spirited and soulful performance set to a Motown classic,” she said. “Complete with snaps, skips, and twirls, the choreography showcases not only the joy of movement but also the deep bonds between fathers and daughters.
“These dynamic duos remind us that dance has the power to strengthen relationships and create memories that last a lifetime,” she added.
As On Your Toes Dance Studio steps into its next chapter, Holmes said it continues to be “a beacon of excellence and empowerment in East Flatbush.
“With every pirouette, pop, and plié, the studio reaffirms its unwavering commitment to the youth of Brooklyn — helping them to dream big, dance bold, and stay on their toes,” she added.
Happy 15th Anniversary, On Your Toes Dance Studio! Here’s to many more years of moving hearts and building futures — one dance at a time.
