The Trinidad and Tobago government has agreed to name one of the state-owned aircraft, Caribbean Airlines Limited (CAL) after Calypso Queen of the World Calypso Rose (McArthur Sandy Lewis, who recently won a French “Grammy”Award.”
The government also plans to honor the Tobago-born calypsonian with a diplomatic passport.
Trinidad and Tobago minister of Culture Dr. Nyan Gadsby-Dollymade the announcement at a post-Cabinet news conference at the Diplomatic Center, Port of Spain on Thursday, March 2.
Rose, 76, has earned the equivalent of a “French Grammy” when she won theAlbum of the Year in the World category at the Victoires de la Mustique in France last month.
The single, “Leave Me Alone,” which she performed in France became an instant hit and enjoyed a lot of play for the T&T Carnival 2017.
