la from the rainstorm in the amphitheater of Von Herbert King Park in Bedford Stuyvesant, complimented Green, radio personality of the Quiet Storm on WBLS 107.5FM and thanked him for their years of friendship before applauding his commitment to hosting the family day, and honoring Mama Green’s memory.

Both men, raised by single mothers, becoming successful, and who spoke of their community engagements and praised each other, were welcomed by fans who eagerly waited to be photographed with them.

The Mama Green Women of Dignity Award was created to commemorate the loving, caring, single mother she was, and whom Green said had a prominent position on stage at the annual family day.

This year, the award-winning host proudly partnered with Valley Stream, New Hope Mental Counseling services, to honor single mothers, Taja Blain, Jennifer Morlak Ricketts, Tanyette Birch, and Josephine Longmire.

The inscription on the plaque read: Lenny Green Annual family day – “Mama green woman of dignity award presented to the beautiful ladies for being extraordinary mothers filled with love and patience for their children and family and for remaining spiritually strong and always helping in their lives – sponsored by the New Hope Mental Counseling services.”

Green who thanked President Clinton Clovis, and Vice President Don Sinkfield for sponsoring the awards, said, “I wanted to do something to remember my mother’s legacy. I don’t think a mother should be responsible for raising a child by herself, but sometimes it does happen. This award helps to uplift women who are single mothers.”

The ladies were each presented with a single rose to celebrate their love and dedication to their children, before brother, Muata Green, spoke of their extended family who helped to raise him and his brother, Lenny. “This Annual family day helps to make this place a better world. United we stand, divided we fall. Let us stay together,” said Muata.

Green’s nieces, Atika Green, and Alizia Flores, also shared loving memories of the late Mama Green, whose caring, and selfless qualities she shared as a parent, will continue to be missed by the family.

Green and co-host Jenelle Simone joined the work-out routine during the day’s activities, that also included a backpack giveaway, a performance by TruSol Music, a fashion show curated by well-known fashion designer, Tyrone Chablis & Showtime Diva models, and assisted by Nichelle ‘BrownEyes” Odetayo of Community Vibes.

Green also presented Michael Griffith with a Friendship Award, recalling the relationship they share after Griffith photographed him with Mohamed Ali, a one everlasting one.

He expressed appreciation to, NYC Parks and Recreation, the NYPD 76th Precinct, NYFD-EMS, Dr. Hope and New Hope MHCS, and free kids’ games sponsor Shop-Bob.com, who made another year of the Lenny Green Family day, and Mama Green memory a great one.
