West Indies earn over $500,000 for fifth place finish at T20 World Cup

The West Indies men’s national cricket team will receive US$538,269 for finishing fifth at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. The amount includes the US$225,000 base payment given to all 20 teams plus bonuses for wins, final position, and reaching the Super Eights.

The team started strongly with five consecutive wins, but was eliminated after losses to South Africa and India at the Super Eights stage.

The International Cricket Council is distributing US$11.25 million in total prize money. Champions India earned US$2,639,423 after defeating New Zealand, while New Zealand received US$1,422,692 as runners-up. South Africa earned US$1,005,577 for third place and England US$974,423 for fourth.

Other Super Eights teams included Pakistan, who earned US$522,692, with Zimbabwe earning US$491,538, and the tournament’s co-host Sri Lanka earning US$475,962.

USA, Australia, and Afghanistan each earned US$309,808, while Scotland and Ireland received US$278,654 and US$271,731, respectively. Italy, Netherlands, UAE, and Nepal earned US$256,154, while Canada, Namibia, and Oman each collected the US$225,000 base payment.
