West Indies produced another unsuccessful performance as England again defeated them, this time by 37 runs in the third and final T20I at Utilita Bowl, Southampton, England.
After being sent into bat, England took advantage of an undisciplined bowling effort by the West Indies to gather 248 for three from their 20 overs.
The West Indies never seriously threatened the massive total and finished on 211 for eight from their 20 overs.
The visitors’ miserable end came when they failed to win a single match in the three-match ODI or T20 series.
England’s openers Jamie Smith and Ben Duckett blasted 120 runs inside 9 overs in an opening stand.
Spinner Gudakesh Motie ended the partnership when he dismissed Smith for 60 off just 26 balls, which included five sixes and four fours. Jos Buttler then came to the crease and made 22 from 10 balls to keep the momentum going but was dismissed rather quickly.
Duckett dismissal followed shortly after losing his stumps to Hosein for 84 off 46, including 10 fours and 2 sixes, as England reached 175 for 3 in the 15th over.
Captain Harry Brook and Jacob Bethell added 70 runs in the last five overs in an unbroken partnership for the fourth wicket.
Bethell finished on 36, not out off just 16 balls with 4 sixes and a 4, while Brook finished unbeaten on 35 from 22 balls with 2 sixes and 2 fours.
In reply, the West Indies got an insignificant amount of runs from openers Evin Lewis and Johnson Charles, who scored only nine runs apiece.
Skipper Shai Hope shone in his 45 off 27 balls with three sixes and three fours and with support from Shimron Hetmyer, who lashed 26 from eight balls, trying to keep up with the high run rate.
But Hetmyer was dismissed by spinner Jacob Bethell, making the score 69 for three in the seventh over. The West Indies lost wickets quickly, and by the 13th over, the side crashed to 120 for 6.
Former captain Rovman Powell produced a boundary-laden unbeaten knock of 79 from 45 balls, including nine fours and four sixes. Jason Holder smacked 25 runs from 12 balls, but it wasn’t enough as the outcome of the match was long decided.
Luke Wood was England’s best bowler with 3-31, while Adil Rashid took 2-30.
