The Dallas Black Dance Theatre will celebrate its 35th Anniversary season with performances at the Alvin Ailey Citigroup Theater, 405 West 55th Street, N.Y., from Jan. 13-15.

Led by Founder and Artistic Director Ann M. Williams, the Dallas Black Dance Theatre will showcase its energetic and powerful dancers during a three-performance engagement.

Hailed as “a company that continually manages to find strength by mixing both experienced dancers with young, vibrant talents,” Dallas Black Dance Theatre brings its experience, beauty and strength to the stage of the Ailey Citigroup Theater with performances that exclusively showcase the works of noted choreographers – Hope Boykin, Francesca Harper, Christopher Huggins, Diane McIntyre, Elisa Monte, Milton Myers, and Bruce Wood.

In addition, Vespers, the masterwork of renowned choreographer, the late Ullysses Dove will be included in the program. “What a fabulous gift to New York. I have had great pleasure working with these wonderfully trained, dedicated and superb performers. They always give one hundred percent,” said New York choreographer, Elisa Monte. “Congrats to Ann Williams, a woman who has dedicated herself to the art of dance and is now celebrating the 35th anniversary of a superb company she founded, developed and sustained through over three decades.”

Providing financial support for both touring and choreography, the National Endowment for the Arts designated Dallas Black Dance Theatre an “American Masterpiece Touring Artist” company. With a rich legacy that includes performances at the Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center and the Olympic Arts Festival, Dallas Black Dance Theatre has now performed in 30 states, 13 countries and five of seven continents during the past 35 years.

This year’s touring schedule, includes a concert series in Belize, providing further exposure for a company with both national and international audiences.

Tickets are on sale now for this exciting performance. Performance dates and times are Friday, Jan. 13, at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 14, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 15, at 3:00 p.m.

The New York season performance is presented by American Airlines, the Official and Exclusive Airline of Dallas Black Dance Theatre.
