Despite flip-flops from some supporters of President Barack Obama, media mogul, Oprah Winfrey remains one of his staunchest and recently re-stated her position by vowing unequivocal support for his re-election bid next year.

In the wake of recent rumors spreading like wildfire that she will not support him – either due to rivalry with First Lady Michelle Obama or fear of jeopardizing ratings for her newly-launched OWN TV, Winfrey issued a statement saying:

“I supported Barack Obama in 2008 because I believed then as I do now that he is the right man for the job. I wanted to share my enthusiasm for his candidacy in hopes that others would see what I saw in him. As for 2012: If the campaign needs me, I’m happy to be of service. I’m in his corner for whatever he needs me to do.”

In an article written by “Your World” columnist Dr. Boyce Watkins the commentator said: “In 2008, constrained by her successful talk show – which ended in 2011 after an unprecedented 25-year reign in ratings – the politically correct Ms. Winfrey refused to allow her couch to double as a stump speech podium. She gave famously former Alaska governor, Sarah Palin access to her audience during the presidential mud-slinging, but assured her that she “would love to have her on after the campaign (was) over.”

“Whether Oprah is able to staunch the flood of criticism the president is facing from both extreme liberals and Right Wing conservatives remains to be seen. However, one thing is as certain as death and taxes: Where O goes, so goes white, middle-class America.”
