India so far in the Digicel ODI series has not been put under any pressure in fielding nor batting. Their bowlers and batsmen have been just sticking to their game plan and they have executed same without any major challenges by the West Indies.

Spinners pose a great challenge and by the time the Five-Match One-Day Series have been completed, the West Indies would have experienced the trials of batting top spin bowling. India has a strong batting side that goes all the way to number 10.

India Defeats Windies By Four Wickets In First ODI

In the first Digicel ODI at the Queens Park Oval in Trinidad between the West Indies and India, the West Indies batted first and scored 214 for 5 with Ramneresh Sarwan 56 from 94 balls, Marlon Samuels 55 from 75 balls and Dwayne Bravo 22 from 20 balls.

Eighty-Two-Run Partnership

Ramneresh Sarwan and Marlon Samuels gathered 82 runs partnership from 118 balls. After the fall of Simmons, Edwards and Darren Bravo went cheaply after which Sarwan and Samuels moved the West Indies’ score from 59 for 3 in the 19th over to 141 for 4 in the 38th over but this was slow scoring as the West Indies ended at 214 for 5 in their 50 overs.

For India, Munaf Patel got 2 for 47 off 9 overs, Harbhajan Singh 3 for 32 off 10 overs, Suresh Raina 2 for 37 from 6 overs and Praveen Kumar 2 for 37 from 10 overs. When India batted they moved from 104 for 4, to 184 for 5 with captain Suresh Raina and Rohit Sharma gathering a partnership of 80 runs for the fifth wicket.

Captain Suresh Raina was caught at long on for 43 off 50 balls but the stage was already set for victory at 184 for 5 with 31 runs to come. Raina and Rohit Sharma scored 80 runs from 60 balls. India finished the game at 217 for 6 with Shikhar Dhawan scoring 51, Sharma 68 not out and Raina 43. India won by 4 wickets.

India defeats the West Indies by 7 wickets via Duckworth Lewis method

India won the second Digicel ODI match at the Queens Park Oval in Trinidad by seven wickets via Duckworth Lewis Method.

India’s captain Suresh Raina won the toss and send the West Indies into bat. Kirk Edwards and Lendl Simmons scored 57 runs together before Edwards departed for 25 runs. Simmons and Sarwan put on a partnership of 67 runs with Simmons scoring 53 runs from 84 balls and Sarwan 56 runs from 90 balls.

After Simmons fell, Marlon Samuels batted superbly for 36 runs from 32 balls, he and Sarwan pushed the score to 175 for 3. The West Indies batsmen found themselves in deep trouble losing 4 wickets for 5 runs, Sarwan,Bravo, Pollard and Baugh.

The West Indies were 197 for 7 but a quick 22 runs from 19 balls from captain Darren Sammy and Ravi Rampaul 14 runs from 16 balls pushed the West Indies score to 240 runs for 9 wickets after 50 overs. Off spinner Amit Mishra picked up 4 for 31 from 10 overs and Munaf Patel 3 for 35 off 10 overs.
