Live professional wrestling came to Barbados this month for the first time and Bajans saw up-close one former World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) icon spray a liquid from his mouth into another idol’s face to gain the edge and eventual victory.

Competing in the final event at the Garfield Sobers Sports Complex, Carlos ‘Carlito Cool’ Colón and Christopher ‘Chris Masters’ Mordetzky were evenly matched taking turns in outmanoeuvring each other, but much to the delight of the crowd in attendance, the dirty trickster ‘Carlito’ pulled the surprise move by spouting legally allowed mouth spray, temporarily blinding ‘Chris Masters’ and followed up with a ‘submission lock’ that earned him the victory.

This win made Carlito, a Puerto Rican and former 13-time Universal champion and the favourite, the new WWE ‘Face II Face’ male wrestling champion.

Acting the role of bad guy in the contest, Masters devoted some time to irritating the crowd but also had Carlito busy ducking and sliding out of his trademark end-game move, which he called “The Master Lock.”

At one stage the crowd villain even attacked the referee.

On the distaff side reigning queen and crowd favourite, Melina Perez, easily dusted off her opponent, Renee Michelle.

This is the second time Melina has handed out to Michelle to retain the women’s championship.
