He’s chart topping in style.

Dancehall artist IamStylezMusic made his billboard debut last week with his album “Back to My Roots.” The musician who also goes by the name Stylez, said that the achievement on the Reggae Record Chart was an expected one given his efforts, and a long work in progress, he said.

“It makes me feel really proud and happy, and this is from all the work I put into it from months prior to now,” said Stylez. “I wouldn’t call it a prediction but moreso the strategic planning and hard work I put in.”

And he also credits his determination and self-efficacy for the musical feat.

“I have a vision board and I do everything I set out to accomplish, and it’s not a surprise it came to this point,” he said.

He said that his brand of music sets him apart in many ways from other artists in the genre, pointing to his will to adapt to current trends, and attract listeners interested in diverse sounds.

“I want people to know that I’m a serious dancehall artist singing a new wave of dancehall, and if people want variety they can flow with my style of music,” said Stylez.

Stylez said that he was thrilled to see his album charting alongside a few of his idols and favorite artists, such as Damian Marley Jr., Chronixx, and Sizzla. The artist is hoping that his album performs well and remains on the chart for some time in preparation for his new project, because he aims to chart again.

“The goal of my team and I is to keep it at number one for 15 weeks into the next year,” he said. “And I want my fans to look out for more because this is just the beginning.”

He is on tour promoting his current album, and will be participating in upcoming shows in Mexico, Trinidad and Tobago, Panama, and Jamaica.
