After four consecutive years on the Parkway, Boom Mas Carnival, the International Band, is getting erotic for Labor Day, according to co-band leaders Trinidadian Joel Deriggs and St. Lucian Daran Andrew.

“This year’s presentation for Labor Day 2018 is called ‘Erotica,’” they told Caribbean Life. “This year, we are expressing our innate and various sexual natures through the form of costumes.

“It will be a colorful, sumptuous and sensual explosion, parading through the erotic pathways of our mind,” they added.

Deriggs and Andrew said “Erotica” comprises six sections: Allure, Alter Ego, Nympho, Feline Fantasy, Sweet Seduction and Boom Bunnies.

They said, since competing in the large band category from the inception, Boom Mas has, on average, comprised 1,000 masqueraders, with this year being no exception.

“We pride ourselves in representing all the islands in the Caribbean and more,” the co-band leaders said. “Our masqueraders come in all shades and nationalities.

“This year, we hope the band can continue to grow and strive to provide the best road experience and customer service,” they added. “We want to bring the back-home vibes to the states.”

Over the years, Boom Mas has placed third, three times, in the Large Adult Band category: 2014, 2016 and 2017.

Deriggs and Andrew described Boom Mas as “an all-inclusive, premium mas band,” with two music trucks and one refreshment truck.

They said masqueraders will be protected by and provided with “strict security and services,” as they sway to “top-notch DJs, from different islands, playing on the Boom Truck.”

The DJs include Boom Champions, Infrared Soundz, Riddim Cast Music, DJ Jr Cruiza, DJ Freshkid, DJ Maddy, and DJ personalities from the radio station “Boom Station, Fire Station and Hype FM.”

The mas camp is located at 358 Legion St., Brownsville, Brooklyn.

The public can follow the band on Instagram @BoomMas, Facebook at Boom Mas, or at www.BoomMas.com.
