Former West Indies Indies star batsman Brian Lara has been appointed coach of the Sunrisers Hyderabad for the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) season.
He replaced Tom Moody as coach of the Sunrisers Hyderabad (IPL) for the new season.
Lara was part of the Sunrisers team management as a strategic advisory and batting coach and this would be his first assisgnment as a coach of a T20 team.
It is learnt that Moody and Sunrisers came to a mutual agreement to part ways.
Moody was recently appointed director of cricket at Viper, one of the six franchises in the ILT20, which is scheduled to begin in January in the UAE in 2023.
Moody has returned to Sunrisers in 2021 as director of cricket with fellow Australian Trevor Ballis as coach.
Once Bayllis left after a dismissal 2021 season, in which Sunrisers finished last with three wins, the franchise appointed Moody as coach, the second time he had held the post.
In his highly successful first stint between 2013 and 2019 Moody has helped Sunrisers reach the playoffs five times and win the IPL in 2016.
