Members of A Fe We Culture will host their first annual fundraiser to benefit the Bronx organization and toast significant Jamaican performing artists they believe best exemplify role models to the next generation.
Collaborating with GH Production Group, the cultural proponents plan an event billed “Ultimate Jamaica 49 Peoples’ Independence Bash,” which will coincide with the island’s celebration of the 49th anniversary of independence.
Slated to be held at Eastwood Manor on Aug. 13, the organizers contend, “Over the last 49 years Jamaica has evolved and this fundraising event will highlight the significant transformation of the survival of a nation’s indomitable character.”
To that end, deserving individuals will be rewarded for representing “a true expression of the tapestry of New York City and the Caribbean.”
This eclectic event promises to offer a blend of ambiance, entertainment — combining music and dance with an interactive presentation.
Some of the artiste to be featured for the evening include: Guitarist Derrick Barnett and the Statement Band, Winston “Mystic Soul” Hall, Janice Heart, Wayne Russell, Mikey “Mac Daddy” Jarrett, Yao Aboagye, Gumbae Culture, Patrick Walker, The African Star – Ardie, Pampam, Vorn (King Crown Sound) and Easy George AKA “The People’s Host.”
One of the highlights of the evening will include performances by some of the honorees.
The event will also launch the “A Fe We Culture Global Program,” and debut a new single “One Child At A Time.”
Proceeds they claim will benefit and support the new program which proposes to engage a multi-level arts production designed to promote cultural and artistic awareness using visual and performing arts as the key components and platform for reclaiming youth.
