Journalists from the Unites States and Guyana will be honored on Sunday, Aug. 30, at the Second Annual H.U.G.E Guyana Day, to be held at the Amphitheatre of Brooklyn Arts Center, on 8024 Preston Ct.(between Ralph Avenue and E. 83rd Street. Gates open at 11am.
Tangerine Clarke, Correspondent of Caribbean Life Newspaper, and Gordon Moseley, founder of News Source Guyana in Georgetown, and other nationals, were named by the entertainment company, as persons who have been on the frontline of Guyana’s development.
Other honorees included politicians Sharma Solomon and James Bond, community activist Sherod Duncan, Alicia Roopnarine and Clayon Halley. Medalist Alien Pompey, as well as Orin Phillips, Ruel Johnson, Melissa Garner, Burchell Marcus, Travis Chase, Vernon Todd, The Lady Jag, eight-year old author Anaya Lee Willabus, Chris Bosso. Dr. Faith Harding, former politician and advocate and Legendary Boxer, Andrew “Sixheads” Lewis will be honored posthumously.
H.U.G.E. LLC is gearing up to display Guyana’s beautiful cultural diversity to the max. The celebration will commence with a parade of Guyanese dressed in national wear of six races of people. This will be followed by more that thirty presentations to include a children’s corner of Arts and Crafts, music, and dance. Little J, Elijah, Gaddie G, Jackie Jaxx The Big Show, Fojo, Jay Anderson, and others will be among the impressive lineup of poets, dancers and musicians.
In addition to Guyana’s finest cuisine that will be on sale from booths around the ground, memorabilia such as T-shirts will be available for purchase. A raffle with prizes totaling more than $3,000.00, an iPad, and a Flatscreen television and other giveaways will keep Caribbean nationals entertained.
