DJ Lady Ann’s new single

Barbara Smith, aka Lady Ann who rose to prominence in Jamaica in the 80’s with the big dancehall hit “Informer” is back on the hit trail with her new single “Don’t You Burn.”

“The promotions are going very good in Jamaica, New York and Europe. I am getting a lot of airplay in these markets,” the New York-based artiste said.

The track which was released earlier this summer was recorded at Barry Dread’s studio in New York and produced by Owen Small on the J Small Record label.

Lady Ann is no stranger to the spotlight having launched her career on the sound systems in the late 70’s alongside deejays Little John and Ranking Toyan.

In 1978, she recorded her first songs, “Plan Your Family” featuring Ranking Toyan and “Shine Eye Boy.” In the early 80’s, she released three albums (Vanity, Informer and Lady Ann). In 2008, she released the album “Bad Gal Inna Dance” for Brooklyn producer DJ Mush1.
