Jersey City Statewide Carnival returns to the road

Cheryl Murphy, founder, and CEO of the Jersey City West Indian/Caribbean American Carnival (JCWICACAI) has announced that Karibbean Konnectionz – Mas-Moko-Music featuring King EJ Earl – ENJ Promotions, won first place, and was named Band of the Year at the Garden State Jersey City, NJ carnival’s triumph return to Road March on July 23, after a two-year pause due to the COVID19 pandemic.

Second place was awarded to JCPRHAC Jersey City Puerto Rico Heritage Arts & Culture – 62 Years Honoring Our Culture – while the third place went to Los Andulleros De Santiago – Ocean Blue.

Murphey told Caribbean Life, all roads led to Lincoln Park for “our 27th annual staging and step off at 12 noon all Grand Marshals Class of 2022 and former Grand Marshals and Parade revelers were all in place.”

“We were blessed with a wonderful parade libation from GM’11 Artist Awo Michael Manswell.” JCWICACAI Statewide Carnival Parade traveled 2 ½ miles through the streets of Jersey City with traditional Caribbean Carnival colors, pageantry, and sounds.

She shared that each group performed at the Reviewing Stand located at Grove Street JC City Hall hosted by Radio Personality GM’11 Patrick Reid and DJ Howard played the ones and twos while spectators were warming up for the carnival parade revelers.

JCWICACAI post parade Grand Marshal Carnival Roaming Relay began in Orange, traveling back to JC, roaming, liming throughout the state of New Jersey took place from 5 p.m. till midnight on Saturday evening and the following day July 24 Day 2 Grand Marshal Statewide Roaming Relay began at 12 noon in Hoboken and ending in Newark at 11 p.m.

Ambassador Murphy stated “JC Statewide Carnival 2022 was Magical, Real Vibes, Contact Sport, High Energy, People Revelers! We are so excited; we were able to finally return to the road after two years being virtual. It was truly a special day filled with love, smiles, unity as we celebrate 27 Years Building Community Together, We Turned 27.”

The next day July 24, at 12 High Noon Day Lime was hosted by GM’22 Justin “DeepJust” Hyppolite and at 5 p.m. Evening Lime hosted by GM’22 Hon. Aboubacar Koyate and GM’22 Chef Olanike Awoleye, as well as All Sponsors, Supporters, Volunteers, and Directors. Thanks, truly a magical season.
