Dr. Tanesha Lawrence left Jamaica at age four with her family settling in Florida.

With a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Miami, a Doctor of Medicine from Temple University Medical School, she did her residency at Montefiore Medical Center in family and social medicine.

For five years at Montefiore, Dr. Lawrence served as staff physician with the New York Children’s Health Project, providing comprehensive medical care to residents in family and domestic violence homeless shelters in New York.

“As a trained family physician, I am a strong proponent of preventative medicine,” Dr. Lawrence says with experience providing primary medical care to patients of all ages.

Since late 2011, she has been providing urgent / walk-in medical care services through DR Walk-In clinics in New York City, New York.

Also in 2011, she was reading “The Purpose Driven Life” by Rick Warren when the section describing the call to the mission field literally caused an unmistakable move in her spirit. Soon after, Dr. Lawrence saw herself in a dream working on a mountain top with fellow church members.

Six months later, she signed up with her home church Greater Allen Cathedral of New York, for a mission to Haiti. “This was a life-changing opportunity, serving the beautiful people of Haiti,” she says of the March 2012 trip, in part, mountaintop outreach, ministering to people who lived along the way in Carralise, Haiti.

Her call to mission has also led her to seminary school in January 2014 where she is pursuing a Master of Divinity in Theology and Missions. She is also the chief executive and founder of The Remnant Inc., a relatively new faith-based missionary humanitarian outreach organization.

Dr. Lawrence believes that we are all blessed and called to be a blessing to others.
