The Network Journal- a black professional and small business magazine – paid tribute to 25 accomplished women at its recent “25 Influential Black Woman in Business” Awards Luncheon, at the New York Marriott Marque.

The group of women, who came from varied fields, from academia, to beauty, to finance, media, tourism, small-business, public service and philanthropy – were celebrated as leaders.

The 15th Annual Awards was part of Women’s History Month, planned to honor the women for their excellence and success.

They are Kimberley A. Blackwell, Sandra Bookman, Audrey Boone Tillman Esq., Erica C. Bowen, Erika Irish Brown, Kimberly Brown Drumgo, Ehrika C. Gladden, Allison E. Green, Sylvia B. Hamer, Donna A. Johnson, Anita Johnson-Patty, Cindy Kent, Rhonda R. Mims, Karen E. Nethersole Esq, Marjorie Perry, Pamela S. Robertson, Angela Roseboro, Sandra Sims-Williams, Stephanie P. Smith, Sharon C. Taylor, Keisha M. Vaughn, Wanji J. Walcott, Esp, Dawn S. Walker, Lorna Welshman-Neblett, and Rosa Whitaker.

Michelle Miller, CBS News Correspondent, and recipient of the National Association of Black Journalists’ Award of Excellence, hosted the magazine’s star-studded event that publisher Aziz Gueye Adetimirin said has been successful in honoring some 400 women over the years, who are not only appreciated for what they do for their families, but also for their communities.

He thanked the selection committee that included past honorees, and praised Guyanese-American Executive Editor, Rosalind McLymont, saying she has been very important to the success of the Network Journal.

McLymont who has spearheaded the magazine for the past 10 years, congratulated the women and told them to keep the faith, and maintain a bond with each other. She added that would help them to go higher in their endeavors, either in their careers or their businesses.

“Never compromise on your standard of excellence,” she said.

During her remarks, Angela Guy, senior vice president, Diversity and Inclusion of L’Oreal USA, told the women to continue to inspire others. “Beauty is not just external, it also comes from within said Guy who praised the women for their courage, tenacity and their passion to empower others.

“Leverage the moment because you are worth it,” she added, using L’Oreal’s legendary tag line.

The Network Journal (TNJ) is an award-winning magazine that was founded in in 1993. It is published six times per year and provides news and commentaries on issues that affect the growth of business and the advancement of professionals in the workplace for an audience of predominantly African-American professionals, corporate executives and small-business owners.
