Will Smith won his first award from the Golden Globes on Jan. 9 for his moving portrayal of Venus and Serena Williams’ father Richard Williams in King Richard. The rapper turned actor was honored with Best Actor In A Motion Picture — Drama after previously being nominated five times by the Hollywood Foreign Press organization, which was not televised or live-streamed this year. Meanwhile, Smith also paid tribute to Sidney Poitier, who passed away January 6 in the Bahamas, posting on Twitter, “An icon, legend, visionary and true pioneer.  Thank you Sidney Poitier for breaking down barriers, creating the path and making it possible for there to be a Will Smith. ” He added, “Your legacy is eternal. Rest in power.”

Nick Rashad Burroughs will star as Ike Turner in Tina – The Tina Turner Musical beginning Tuesday, January 18 in New York City. Tony -award nominee Daniel Watts’ final performance is Sunday, Jan. 16. Nkeki Obi-Melekwe currently stars as Tina. Written by Tony award nominee and Pulitzer Prize winner Katori Hall with Frank Ketelaar and Kees Prins, the play officially reopened at Broadway’s Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on Oct. 8, 2021.

According to reports, Chris Brown’s rumored ex-girlfriend Diamond Brown gave birth to a baby girl Jan. 8. The baby’s name is Lovely Symphani Brown. The bundle of joy weighed 6 pounds and 9 ounces, and is 20 inches long. Diamond has not confirmed who the father is, however, fans of Chris have speculated that Lovely could be the crooner’s third child. The R&B/pop star is a dad of two already and shares daughter, Royalty, 7,  with ex Nia Guzman, and son, Aeko, 2, with ex Ammika Harris.
