Citizens for A Better Community celebrated its 11th Family Day at Paerdegat Park, Albany Avenue on Saturday, Aug.11. More than 1,000 people came out to celebrate that day to eat, drink, and be merry, meet and greet their friends and neighbors to foster a sense of community harmony. The children ran many races and won trophies and medals. The Annual Talent Show was held and the East Flatbush kids displayed their incredible talents.
St. Vincent and the Grenadines Nurses Association were present to test blood pressure. New York Life Insurance and Prudential Life Insurance were on hand to make personal ID cards for the kids. Pony rides, bouncing houses and Ding-A-Ling the Clown kept the kids amused for the entire day. DJ Madd Fyre and DJ Mathew Sweet Sounds provided great music to keep the community dancing. New York Pan Stars Steel Orchestra, African drummers, singers, dancers and the Zafem Band played Haitian music to the delight of the audience during the evening’s entertainment.
This year’s Community Service Scholarship recipients were Art Shango and Samantha Ziegler. Another good year, another good job by Citizens For A Better Community, its President Yvette Barrow and Food Coordinator Shirley Parris.
