A lush variety of unique artisan crafts will be on display and for sale at Pelham Art Center’s annual artisan exhibition, Craft-Tastic. Opening Nov. 30, 2012, and running through Jan. 5, 2013, this year’s exhibition will feature a variety of crafts, large and small, including jewelry, leather goods, ceramics, letterpress, ornaments, furniture, sculpture, and visual arts.

All goods are handmade by artists in New York and elsewhere in the U.S., as well as overseas. For the first time at Pelham Art Center, Craft-Tastic will showcase the wares of skilled artisans located in Africa and Central Asia who, through US-based partnerships, create exquisitely crafted items as part of an effort to bring economic sustainability to their communities.

Part enlightening exhibition and part museum store, Craft-Tastic will offer shoppers a very special opportunity to see and buy distinctive and one-of-a-kind gifts for the holiday season. All works are for sale and include a range of affordable items. Craft-Tastic is curated by Christine Milo and Laura Nicholas.

For one week only, a 15 percent discount on all gallery items will be offered to Pelham Art Center members only during a special Member Holiday Sale, Nov. 30–Dec. 8. Anyone can become a member of Pelham Art Center at any time.

There will be an Opening Reception and free All-Age Art Workshop on Friday, Nov. 30, from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

The reception for the opening of Craft-Tastic is free and open to the public. Families are welcome. During the opening, visitors of all ages may participate in a free art workshop of making your own wrapping paper, led by artist-educator Nancy Nikkal.

On Friday, Dec. 14, 4:00 p.m. there will be Gallery Conversations. All are invited to tour and discuss works in the exhibition with Gallery Manager and co-curator, Laura Nicholas. Each session will focus on only a handful of works to encourage in-depth looking at art.
