According to President Garcon-Bonneau, “The Haitian American Lawyers Association of New York (HALANY) is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit professional organization founded to promote and encourage Haitian Americans and other ethnic minorities in the judicial and legal system. It comprises attorneys, judges, scholars and activists who are passionate and interested in issues that pertain to Haitian-Americans and the Haitian diaspora.”
“Since its inception in 2013, HALANY has stepped in to provide valuable legal services for the Haitian community. Its services include assisting TPS recipients with their renewal applications, and helping underserved neighborhoods,” said Garcon-Bonneau.

The celebration highlighted the accomplishments of Haitian Americans living in the diaspora who are making a difference on the ground. The newly elected members are essential to the community’s needs. Currently an influx of Haitian migrants is occurring in the United States.
Thus, now more than ever, these new members services are needed. The HALANY’s team expressed its special thanks to Taste Buds Required run by Martine for providing the delicious Haitian food. Alexi Thomas, vice president of Legal and Compliance at Evercore hosted the event.
