New York Jets football player Marcus Maye handed out fresh turkeys to families at the annual turkey basket donation at Brookdale Hospital on Tuesday, Nov. 21. The athlete met with several patients and even brightened up their spirits, said one mom who was there with her daughter.

“It was really fun to see him. He spoke to her, and asked her how she was feeling — she was excited,” said Lindy Nangle.

She said the visit from the football player put her 17-year–old daughter Zoe in such a great mood, the teen told everyone about the experience.

“She was smiling and she even called all of her friends to tell them,” said Nangle.

Every year the hospital holds the yearly turkey drive for days before Thanksgiving, to help the community.

The Jets safety also got a chance to meet with several other young patients to check in on their well-being, and help them with their homework.
