Kings County Hospital launches Comprehensive Total Joint Replacement Center

NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County on Oct. 21 announced its Comprehensive Total Joint Replacement Center to enhance surgical services and improve the overall quality of life for patients who suffer from chronic pain due to arthritis and degenerative joint disease.

KCH said the center utilizes a multidisciplinary approach and performs minimally invasive procedures that permit patients faster recovery time, reduction in pain and scarring and higher success rates compared to traditional surgeries.

The launch of the center serves as a milestone in the hospital’s mission towards technological modernization and serving the needs of the community through a necessary practice.

“The Total Joint Replacement Center at NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County addresses the health care needs of residents in Central Brooklyn,” said the hospital in a statement. “It provides a comprehensive service that is vital and affordable.”

KCH said the center consists of fellowship-trained, board-certified expert-level orthopedic surgeons, non-operative physicians, physician assistants, nurses, physical therapists and social workers.

The hospital’s orthopedic surgeons perform procedures and work with providers and other specialties to provide the highest patient experience and quality care.

“The orthopedic surgeons implemented an individualized approach to patient care; they work closely with patients to develop a comprehensive care plan that best suits their lifestyle,” the statement said.

Conditions treated in the Center include: Osteoarthritis; Inflammatory arthritis (including rheumatoid arthritis); post-traumatic osteoarthritis; osteonecrosis of the hip and knee; hip dysplasia; traumatic injuries and fractures; congenital, pediatric, and developmental hip disorders (congenital dislocation, perthes and cerebral palsy; and meniscal injuries.
