Pan Jazz for Father’s Day!

DFG Promotions will hold its first Father’s Day concert on June 19, 2016 at the Tropical Paradise Ballroom which is located at 1367 Utica Ave., Brooklyn.

According to one of the organizers, DFG Promotions was born out of love for the culture and especially the steelpan. It also came about because of the now debunked Father’s Day show, Jazz at Lincoln Center.

The show will feature Othello Molineaux who is based in Miami and will perform a fusion of Latin and Calypso Jazz with his band.

Also featured will be Garvin Blake, well known in Brooklyn circles both as the player with the “lite” touch along with his group of friends including Sir Frankie McIntosh. Blake has also arranged for NYC bands such as “Moods” and “Pan Rebel.”

Sir Frankie McIntosh is a prolific arranger who has worked with many of the leading calysonians over the years. “Utopia Pan Soul” will also be featured.

DFG Promotions is the brain child of Shafeeq Muhammad and includes Ann Belfon and Janice McMayo. Its mission is to promote the steelpan as a business, and in so doing, also create opportunities for the various pannist both here and around the world.

Tickets are available at the Tropical Paradise Restaurant and from DFG Promotions.
