South Africa, Windies women draw series

South Africa women managed to draw (2-2) in the five-match Twenty20 series against the West Indies at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in South Trinidad last week.

The third match was abandoned due to rain. It was the second straight defeat for the West Indies against the South Africa Women.

West Indies player Hayley Matthews struck her highest Twenty20 score (70) to lead her team a competitive 155 for 5 after they were sent in to bat. They reach 156 for 7 with one ball left in their innings.

Wicket keeper Lizelle Lee top scored for South Africa women with 42 off 12 balls while the other opener Laura Wolvaard smashed a 6 and three fours in a 13-ball to win the game.

The West Indies Women will be focusing in building on the positive of the series ahead of the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 in the Caribbean next month.
