The Limacol Caribbean Premier League Twenty20 tournament took an interesting turn as Trinidad & Tobago Red Steel took the top honors by leading the points table. The T&T Red Steel has 10 points, they played six games and lost only one when they were defeated by the Guyana Amazon Warriors. The T&T Red Steel has three more games to play, the St. Lucia Zouks, Antigua Hawksbills and the Barbados Tridents.

Captain Bravo gives credit to Simon Helmot

T&T Red Steel captain Dwayne Bravo gave credit to Australian coach Simon Helmot for his team’s success. Bravo said, “the Australian coach has made a difference to his team in the current Limacol Caribbean Premier League Twenty20 tournament.”

T&T Red Steel defeats the Jamaica Tallawahs by 13 runs

Some remarkable performance from T&T Red Steel all-rounder Kevin O’Brien. He boosted the Red Steel to an exciting victory over the Jamaica Tallawahs. Captain Chris Gayle won the toss and gave T&T Red Steel first strike. T&T Red Steel scored 183 runs for 5 wickets with Evin Lewis scoring 72 runs from 43 balls with eight sixes and two fours, Kevin O’Brien 32 and Darren Bravo 30 for 30 balls.

The Jamaica Tallawahs reached 170 for 6 with Chris Gayle scoring 60 off 26 balls, Andre Russell 40 out off 17 balls with massive sixes and Jermaine Blackwood 28 runs of 26 balls. Kevin O’Brien picked up 4 wickets for 22 runs and he was named man of the match for his all-rounder effort.

Dwayne Smith slams 110 no out in LCPL

Barbados Tridents batsman Dwayne Smith hit a swashbuckling in 110 runs not out from 69 balls with six fours and eight sixes. Playing against the St. Lucia Zouks at Kensington oval in Barbados. The Tridents scored 186 runs for 9 wickets and apart from smith’s century Shoaib Malik scored 49 runs before he was bowled by pacer Tino Best. The St. Lucia Zouks scored 157 for 4 off their 20 overs with Keddy Les Poris scoring 50 not out and Andre Fletcher 27. Barbados Trident won by 29 runs.

BOTH LARA AND LLOYD SCORED 14 TONS AS CAPTAIN

Former West Indies captain Clive Lloyd and Brain Lara both scored 14 centuries during their tenure as captain. Lara averaged 57-83 in the 47 Test in which he captained the West Indies team. Lara scored 400 not out against England in Antigua in 2004 and four other scores above 200 as captain, he scored 213 off Australia at Sabina Park, 209 off Sri Lanka at Beausejour in St. Lucia, 202 against South Africa in Johannesburg, South Africa and 216 off Pakistan in Multan.
