Just over a month after delivering a scintillating performance at Mashramani, Guyana’s annual festival that celebrates the country’s status as a republic, dancehall’s fast-rising, New York based, Jamaican singjay Nigy Boy has been summoned to the oil-rich country again. This time, to share stage with Afrobeat mega star Burna Boy on May 1, 2024.

“Nigy Boy and Burna Boy on the same stage in Guyana is a big deal!” Nigy Boy told Caribbean Life on Tuesday. “It will be a historic moment.

“Burna Boy is regarded as the African giant,” he added. “To get the opportunity to perform with this music legend is a good look for my music career. It will also allow me the opportunity to further export our Jamaican music and culture to the world, and I’m thankful for that.”

Speaking about returning to Guyana and building a solid fan base there, the Continent Boss said, “It’s definitely an honor and a privilege to be going back to Guyana a second time. I wouldn’t be surprised if all of Guyana came out” he shared.

And, with Guyana sitting on US$150 billion in oil and gas reserves, that nation is rapidly becoming the new regional epicenter for high-end, state-of-the-art music concerts.

Nigy Boy exploded on music charts globally earlier this year with his hit single “Continent” that has racked up over 10 million views on YouTube.

His follow up second single/video “Judgement” has also found favor with dancehall fans. The song world premiere in New York on PIX TV, a market leader in New York City.

The singjay said he is busy in studios working on new tracks, preparing for graduation from college in May, and is ready to deliver a “spellbinding performance” at Reggae Sumfest in Jamaica on Saturday, July 20.
