Ailey’s New York performances, which have become a joyous holiday tradition, continue through Jan. 1, 2012.

The season features the renowned dancers of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater in more than 20 ballets by 13 choreographers including world premieres, new productions and special performances.

Dec. 16, 17 eve, 18 eve

Ailey will pack this season’s new works into four exhilarating all new nights. On Dec. 16, Dec. 17 and Dec. 18, the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater will move audiences with their brilliant artistry and passionate spirit in a series of new productions and premieres including Artistic Director Robert Battle’s fiery “Takademe;” “Streams” by Alvin Ailey; modern dance master Paul Taylor’s “Arden Court,” Rennie Harris’ premiere work, “Home;” “Journey” by Joyce Trisler and Ohad Naharin’s “Minus 16.”

Live music performances:

Indian music artist Naren Budhkar will sing Sheila Chandra’s jazzy vocal score in performances of Robert Battle’s Takademe and Charles Ives’s haunting “The Unanswered Question,” will be played live by members of The Knights at all performances of Journey.

Revelations With Cast Of 50

Next week, audiences will have the final chance to witness the Alvin Ailey’s masterwork with a cast of 50! Dancers will fill the stage and spill into the aisles as promising students from The Ailey School and talented young dancers from Ailey II enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to dance alongside members of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.
