The Caribbean Premier League (CPL) is set to make history as it announced a major expansion for this summer’s tournament, with matches set to be played across a record-equalling eight Caribbean nations, including a first-ever game at Arnos Vale in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
The tournament will run from Aug. 7 to Sept. 20 this year.
Arnos Vale in St. Vincent will host CPL matches for the first time, making a new addition to its Caribbean cricket history. Five teams will play three matches at Arnos Vale Stadium.
The venue previously hosted 36 men’s internationals, including five games in the 2024 T20 World Cup, where spin bowling was prominent.
The league covers Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, and Trinidad and Tobago. The Jamaica Kingsmen join this year, expanding the franchises to seven.
Meanwhile, although the CPL has yet to release a full fixture list, all playoff matches — including the final —will be played at the historic Kensington Oval in Barbados from Sept. 16 to 20.
The CPL schedule overlaps with England’s men’s Hundred, which could affect player availability, including stars Nicholas Pooran and Sherfane Rutherford.
Fans across the region are eagerly awaiting the full fixture list for what is expected to be a major regional T20 cricket celebration.
