Jamaica Opposition reshuffles its Shadow Cabinet

The Opposition Leader of Jamaica, the People’s National Party Leader, Mark Golding has declared in a statement that he has reorganized his Shadow Cabinet and the objective for doing the reshuffling was to demonstrate and highlight the wide range of skills and expertise that exist within the People’s National Party.

Golding stated that amid the seasoned Members of Parliament in this new Shadow Cabinet there are new additions in the political stratum of the party. Dr. Alfred Dawes, one of the Caribbean leading general laparoscopic and bariatric surgeon and Wavell Hinds, former West Indies international cricketer, as well as the former deputy general secretary of the People’s National Party are two of the fresh faces who are now included in the Shadow Cabinet.

According to Golding, this Cabinet is prepared to provide answers to Jamaica’s enduring problems. “Each Shadow Minister will be supported by a team including deputies to be named at a later date, along with their junior Shadow Cabinet counterparts. Shadow Cabinet positions provide an opportunity for team members to contribute and gain exposure without burdening taxpayers,” the Opposition Leader added.

In his remarks Golding did not forget the services of former members of the Cabinet and expressed his gratitude to these members of the last Shadow Cabinet announcing that they would not be standing for election.
