In a world where music often transcends borders and cultures, artists like Samora play a crucial role in not only entertaining but also educating and inspiring their audiences.

Hailing from the vibrant and diverse country of Suriname, Samora has taken it upon herself to honor her heritage and share the rich story of her homeland through her music.

Sarah A. Freiseis, second vice president of communications with the Brooklyn-based PlaybookMG, a major entertainment publicity company, Samora’s latest release, “Born in Suriname (Work),” is “a shining example of her dedication to preserving and celebrating the beauty and uniqueness of Surinamese culture.”

“The verses in the song delve into Samora’s upbringing and the values instilled in her by her Surinamese heritage,” she said. “They provide a glimpse into her journey, painting a vivid picture of the experiences that have shaped her as an artist and individual.

“It’s in these verses that we see the connection between her music and her roots,” Freiseis added. “Musically, ‘Born in Suriname (Work)’ is a tapestry of sounds deeply rooted in dancehall, but it also oscillates around elements of reggae, dub, and even trap.

“Fusing these genres creates a dynamic and energetic musical landscape that captures the listener’s attention from the first note,” she continued. “It’s punchy and edgy yet danceable, making it a delight to listen to.”

In a triumphant moment for the artist and her dedicated fan base, Freiseis noted that Samora on Aug. 31 secured the inaugural Caribbean Music Award, at King’s Theater in Brooklyn, for “Best New Artist Reggae.”

“This remarkable achievement is a testament to Samora’s undeniable talent but also a celebration of the unwavering support from her loyal followers,” Freiseis said. “It highlights the significance of an artist who strives to maintain and represent her heritage while contributing to the global music scene.

“It’s a testament to the power of music to bridge cultural gaps and connect people from all corners of the world,” she added.

“Born In Suriname (Work)” is set to be released on Nov. 24, 2023, the day before Suriname Independence Day.
