Windies shine and win Test series

Four magnificent performaces from two West Indies bowlers and two West Indies batsmen propelled their team to defeat Bangladesh in the second Test match winning the two-match Test series 1-0.

West Indies won the toss, batted first and scored 355 runs with number three batsman Kirk Edwards scoring 121, openers Kraig Brathwaite 50 and Kieran Powell 72.

For Bangladesh, the spinner Shakib Al Hasan picked up 5 for 63, which totalled him to his eighth fifth-wicket haul. The Bangladesh team was bowled out for 231 with Shakib Al Hasan scoring 73, Naeem Islam 45 and Nasir Hossain 42. Fidel Edwards picked up 5 for 81 and Devendra Bishoo 3 for 62.

West Indies Scored 383 For 5 Declared

West Indies in their second innings totally took control and blasted away at the opposition. Darren Bravo scoring his first Test century in 195 runs from 297 balls. Kirk Edwards 86 and Shivnarine Chandrpaul 59 not out. Darren Bravo shared in two partnerships, 151 runs with Kirk Edwards and 143 with Shivnarine Chanderpaul.

The Bangladesh team was bowled out for 278 runs in their second innings losing the Test match by 29 runs after they were set a target of 508 to win. Davendra Bishoo playing his seventh Test match picked up 5 for 90 and Darren Sammy 2 for 19 from 13 overs.

Jamaica is Super 50 Champions

The Super 50 Championship concluded in Guyana with Jamaica being crowned as champions after defeating Trinidad and Tobago. Jamaica scored 122 for 5 and Trinidad and Tobago 118. Jamar Lambert scored 30 not out, Danza Hyatt 29 and Nikita Miller picked up 3 for 19 for Jamaica by 5 wickets and winning the Clive Lloyd Trophy.
