DeVendra Bishoo will be back!

DeVendra Bishoo will be back!

West Indies leg spinner DeVendra Bishoo was very unfortunate to have a setback in his career after the Australian cricketers scored many runs during his bowling spell in their recent Test series.

During the series against India, Bishoo was also guilty of bowling too short, putting down too many long ups and lacking variation.

The vital areas he needs to work on are getting the ball up on a good length to the batsman and varying in his bowling to take wickets. He will have to develop quickly and prove to the selectors that he is competitive for the highest status of the game all over again.

What Also Went Against DeVendra Bishoo?

DeVendra Bishoo was used by Captain Darren Sammy in a manner that did not benefit the team. Captaincy sometimes can make or break a bowler. Bishoo is not the type of bowler for long spells.

Captain Darren Sammy overused Bishoo when the captain himself should have contributed to the bowling. Sammy is playing in the team supposedly as a bowling allrounder but he does not bowl his quota thus putting unnecessary pressure on the other bowlers and the team itself. Why should DeVendra Bishoo bowl 45 overs and Darren Sammy only 15?

Ottis Gibson Must Shoulder Some Of The Blame

West Indies Head Coach Ottis Gibson must take some of the responsibility for the lapses in Bishoo’s bowling. The head coach is primarily responsible for giving comprehensive assistance to players, particular those who are playing below their expected standards. It is evident that Bishoo needs some vital assistance and Gibson should have been the person to provide the necessary help.

Bishoo Must Impress the Selectors

Bishoo must be able to prove to the selectors that his rhythm and bowling application have been modified and he is again ready for the international arena. It is well known that he has the potential to take wickets, but at what cost? Two particular contributing factors in Bishoo’s favor are that he focuses on his fitness and he is also a brilliant catcher and fielder. Bishoo is down at the moment but not entirely out. He will be back.
